Nigeria Youths Need To Be Valued-oriented - Ibikunle

'Youth value re-orientation' has been defined as the act of getting the youths to do what is right for the society and to act responsibly as well as stay abreast of government policy, public opinion, promoting patriotism, national unity, and development of Nigerian society.' 

These were words of Mr. Ibikunle, The National Orientation Agency of Nigeria official who delivered a lecture on Value Reorientation at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, on Wednesday.

Mr. Ibikunle went on to analyze the need for value re-orientation, stating that values such as honesty, respect, integrity, fairness, and discipline are diminishing while socially unacceptable behaviours is on the surge in the society.

Furthermore, he said it is necessary that all stakeholders take responsibility for value re-orientation as it would help Nigeria focus as a nation.

Mr. Ibikunle stated that in search of light at the end of the tunnel, NOA launched the "Change Begins With Me" Campaign on the 8th of September, 2016 which has been targeted at the youths as they are the leaders of tomorrow. 

It would be recalled that NOA was established by Decree 100 of 1993 and its main functions include enlightening the general public on government policies and programmes, orientation of the public on their rights, responsibilities and privileges as citizens of Nigeria, encouraging Nigerians to have positive patriotic participation in national affairs, creating channels for the collection of responses or criticism on government policies and channelling such feedback to government, among others.
