While delivering his motivational lecture at the Multipurpose Hall of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Ede, on Thursday, he told them that it is essential they have the right attitude and disposition toward life in order to survive its hurdles.
He urged the corps members to always take initiative, be innovative and provide new approaches to solving problems. He also advised them to be respectful to fellow colleagues and officials.
Adeleke said the scheme is designed for serious minded people and added that excellent and impressive acts of service have their rewards and benefits.
He admonished the corps members to possess confidence and courage to take hold of opportunities and tackle challenges that come their way.
He then went on to implore them to be proactive, perform assigned duties and cultivate positive values that will stand them out anywhere they find themselves. He posited that no institution can give to them what the government is giving to them through NYSC. According to him, the scheme loves her graduate members and want them to be the best in the world and therefore is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring they are well grounded and trained with the requisite skills needed to compete relatively well with other youths around the globe.
Mr. Adeleke touched on the increasing rate of insecurity and the alarming dangers now seen in the society.
"what you used to see as alien is now a doorstep reality", he said.
He chides them to be wise, avoid night trips, keep off dangerous zones and develop eyes of an eagle and ears of a rabbit; security alertness must be high at all times.
The former Director preached national integration and unity. He told them one of the things the scheme provides is the opportunity to uphold peace and bring together people from every part of the country in a peaceful coexistential relationship.
Mr. A.I.D. Adeleke went on to inform corps members to desist from getting involved in devious acts such as taking shortcuts to success, falsifying documents, attempting or using proxies for PPA clearance. He charged them to stay away from any act that will defame their names and the image of the NYSC scheme.
