Fire Accidents Are Preventable - Dsf Olajide Tells Corps Members

DSF Olajide Ademola from the Department of Osun State Fire Service has told the 2021 Batch B stream I corps members that fire accidents can be prevented if precautionary measures are properly taken.

He made the disclosure during the fire service lecture held on Saturday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede.

According to him, the Fire Service Department is saddled with the task of ensuring individuals avoid fire accidents and also knowing what to do in cases of fire outbreaks.

"The primary responsibility of Government is protecting lives and properties, of which the Fire Service plays a huge part through fighting fires. And it is sardonic that majority of fire outbreaks occur in our everyday society via carelessness or recklessness."

 

He went on to address incessant occurrences of people, especially youths, starting fires while protesting. He reminded them that every Government property is funded by the taxpayers money and the destruction of these properties ruins the efforts of taxpayers, which is not acceptable.

He took the Corps Members out to the parade ground and displayed different methods of extinguishing fires using the fire truck and extinguishers. 

 He took time out to commend the Government for reviving the Federal Fire Service which previously only existed in major cities such as Abuja, Lagos, Enugu and Rivers but is now across the Federation.
